We got an interesting call for a project this week, and I think it’s going to turn out to be a really fun one. Our clients purchased a pool/ping pong dining table (they sure seem fun, right?!), but one of the packages was lost in delivery, and the manufacturer has stopped making these tables. So, they’re left with the top, which includes the pool table, ping pong top, and flat dining top, but no legs, and no benches. Luckily, they received a full refund, which means we get to have some fun creating a table base and benches to complete their dining room.
We always like to start with a few different stylistic options, because sometimes a client is unsure about exactly what “look” they like. The first version we did is a close match to the original look: simple post legs, and a basic bench style.
Next is a farmhouse take on the table. I love the idea of something different like this, because when the dining top is on, it will feel very much like a standard dining table. The clients have a beautiful wood floor, and farmhouse styles work really well with contrasting colors. We could do the base of the table and benches in white so they don’t blend into the floor, and then a gorgeous contrasting wood top.
The last version we created was a more traditional style, implementing standard turned legs on both the table and the benches. This is a nice feminine take on the original look, because it’s still all about the posts, but the turned details make it more upscale and classic.
We’ll keep you updated on what we go with, and of course share all the pictures once this project is complete. My favorite is the farmhouse style, so I’m sending mental vibes that they’ll pick that version, but no matter what, this is going to be a fun and different project!
